Harlequin Paper doll Sculpture Keepsake Urn
The inspiration for this pet urn Art Doll is the Character of Harlequin, from the Commedia dell'Arte. She is a one-of-a-kind creation, made from rare antique fabrics, papers, and pressed metals.
Her body is papier mach�, worked onto a wire armature. She was totally sculpted by hand! She has eyelashes of real human hair, and attention has been paid to the tiniest details, such as her chain earrings, and the pressed metal heels of her thigh high boots.
The folded paper skirt and cuffs have the feeling of an 18th Century court costume. The overskirt, gauntlet cuffs, and neck ruff are all made from a 1920's fan painting, and the underskirt is an actual accordion pleated Chinese fan. Tinted feather headdress and skirt are encrusted with Swarovski crystals, and the black bodice, gloves and boots are all accented with vintage miniature gold French embroidery. This chain stitch embroidery was worked onto fine silk tulle, a rarity.
Harlequin's masque has beautiful gold metal butterfly wings on each side, decorated with pink iridescent crystals. The tiny box she holds as a tender offering will contain a sprinkle of your beloved pet's ashes. Papers decorating this urn box are from an 18th Century fan! The top of the box will display a plaque, engraved with your pet's name and dates commemorating the time shared with you.
Stacia Lang is a doll maker and assemblage artist who uses vintage textiles, trims, papers and found objects to create one-of-a-kind art pieces. Each pet urn doll or pet urn box has it's own unique story, and many of it's materials have been lovingly preserved for decades, finding their final creative purpose here in these objets d'art.
This is a one of a kind pet urn. It will hold a few teaspoons of your pet's ashes in the keepsake treasure box she holds in her hands.
