Stacia Lang- paper doll urn artist

Stacia Lang is a doll maker and assemblage artist who uses vintage textiles, trims, papers and found objects to create one-of-a-kind art pieces. Each doll or box has it’s own unique story, and many of it’s materials have been lovingly preserved for decades, finding their final creative purpose here in these objets d’art.

Stacia was born and raised in Minnesota. She graduated from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City with a degree in Fashion Design. Stacia stayed in New York, building costumes for Broadway shows ("Into the Woods", "La Cage Aux Folles"), Dance Companies (NYC Ballet, Joffrey Ballet), and The Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey Circus. She eventually began designing costumes for musical artists. Prince and Dolly Parton are two that she especially enjoyed working with, because of their unique styles, and their refusal to conform to mainstream fashion trends.

After moving to Los Angeles in 1997, Stacia began creating costumes for films. Again, focusing on highly specialized pieces. Her film credits range from Superhero Blockbusters (Superman Returns, Fantastic 4, Spiderman 2, X-Men 2) to Science Fiction (Star Trek Nemesis, Star Trek Insurrection, The Time Machine) to Fantasy (The Cell, Eragon, Where the Wild things Are, The Flintstones in Viva Rock Vegas).

Stacia’s background as a costume designer and builder for stage and screen has provided the variety of skills necessary in crafting what she calls her "Jewel Box Urns". She says, "With these urns, I have been given the opportunity to combine many of my interests-----sculpture, painting, costume and jewelry design and vintage textile preservation. But what is especially important to me is my love of nature and animals. To be able to commemorate the love and loyalty of a special pet is truly and honor for me!"
